Before Long Road, Jeremy Kane spent a decade building schools in Nashville.
In 2006 he mortgaged his house, knocked on more than a thousand doors, and opened LEAD Academy. It grew from a middle school into the city's first public charter high school, and it became the only public school in Nashville to graduate 100% of its seniors and have them all accepted to a four-year college.
From there he built LEAD Public Schools, Tennessee's first charter management organization, into six schools. Two were conversions of struggling district schools: Cameron College Prep, Tennessee's first district-charter conversion, and Brick Church College Prep. LEAD Southeast and LEAD Madison followed. He stepped down in 2014, the year LEAD graduated its first senior class.
He founded Long Road Partners in 2015 to help schools, healthcare companies, and growing businesses solve hard problems. Advising taught us a lot. Building and owning taught us more. We launched Hustle/Op in 2019 and bought our first gyms in 2023. Today the family lives in the Salt Lake City area, running what we bought and building what was missing.
